West Coast defender Will Schofield is upbeat his AFL side has enough time to iron out their issues before September.

The Eagles suffered an upset 19-point loss to Collingwood at the MCG in round 19, hammering their top-four hopes and premiership credentials.

Last year's grand finalists face Fremantle, Greater Western Sydney, Hawthorn and Adelaide in a tricky run to the finals.

St Kilda's loss to North Melbourne makes it even harder for West Coast will slip outside the top eight, even if they drop all four games.

But that isn't the sort of form line that Schofield, coach Adam Simpson or anyone at the club wants to contemplate ahead of Sunday's derby date with the Dockers.

"The second quarter against Collingwood we didn't show up. If you play like that against any team in the comp, you'll get beaten," Schofield said.

"We'd all be the first to admit we're probably not playing our best footy right now.

"But luckily enough we're far enough away from finals to hopefully get there (and improve).

"We'll be hoping to be back at our best next week.

"You don't like to lose two games in a row and Freo have been going ok in the last month, so it's a big challenge for us."

Schofield added his side have bigger issues to worry about than a poor record outside Perth.

"It's irrelevant, when you play the sort of footy we did against Collingwood," he said.

Schofield felt there were still some positives in the way his team went down to the Magpies.

"We started pretty well. We played the way we want to play probably in the third quarter and start of the last but we couldn't go with them," he said.
